Jahorina

Winter tourist center

Jahorina is one of the most beautiful olympic mountains. It belongs to the Dinaric mountain system, and the highest peak is Ogorjelica at 1916 meters above sea level. Due to the great snowfall and attractive slopes, it is a very popular destination for lovers of winter sports, but also lovers of nature and clean mountain air.

On the mountain in 1923 you brought the first ski, and since then, skiing has never ceased to date. The peak of skiing at Jahorina is the XIV Winter Olympics held in Sarajevo in 1984, and Jahorina then hosted the best skiers in the alpine disciplines.

Accommodation facilities, cable cars and ski lifts, and ski slopes have always been improved, so today there is a modern ski center on Jahorina.

Today, Jahorina has about 50 km of trails for skiers and boarders, by weight suitable for beginners, but also for top athletes. Vertical transport has a capacity of around 12000 skiers per hour (three six-seater, one two-seater lifts, three ski lifts and two kindergartens with a conveyor belt) conditions are for skiers and they are glad to return Jahorina.

Today, Jahorina is probably the most important tourist destination in the area of the City of Sarajevo, as well as the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It generates more than 85% of the total number of arrivals and overnight stays in the area of the City of East Sarajevo, and often in the days of skiing weekends Jahorina visits up to 15,000 visitors.

Tourist center Jahorina offers a number of facilities that make it a pleasant stay in summer. At Jahorina there are fields for football, basketball, volleyball, handball, small football, suitable for preparation of sports teams, as well as for recreational people. For extreme sports fans, there are bicycles, four-wheeler, paintball, paragliding.

In the afternoon of the day, Jahorina offers the possibility of night skiing and good evening entertainment in numerous restaurants and clubs.
